Underground Railroad Experience

<p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>The Underground Railroad Experience is a re-enactment of the Underground<br />Railroad that was led by Harriet Tubman. In this re-enactment you are the<br />participants. You will begin this journey by entering the “Door of No Return.” As<br />your escape to freedom begins you will be led to freedom by a conductor. You will<br />hide from bounty hunters, seek refugee in a safe house, find yourself following<br />the Genesee River and then move on to Freedom/Canada.</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p><a href="https://tubmanroc.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Underground-Railroad-Flyer_Distribute.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Download a PDF program here</a>.</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>PLEASE NOTE: This is especially for parents with children—This is a mock<br />experience, and nothing will hurt you or your children. If you or your child are<br />easily frightened, afraid of the dark, the sound of dogs barking or horses running,<br />you may want to reconsider taking them through the experience. There will be a<br />table set up of activities for children.</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>As you enter the church there will be a display showing stops on the Underground<br />Railroad here in Rochester, New York.</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>There will be musical selections with songs about escaping, such as <em>Swing Low<br />Sweet Chariot</em> and <em>Seal Away Home</em>; prayers, poetry reading, and short talk about<br />Harriet Tubman.</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p> <p><!-- wp:paragraph --></p> <p>This experience is free, however donations are appreciated.</p> <p><!-- /wp:paragraph --></p>
